ABOUT BAGPUSS Bagpuss is a classic UK children's television series, made by Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate from 20 February 1974 to 15 May 1974 through their company Smallfilms. The title character was "an old, saggy cloth cat, baggy, and a bit loose at the seams" . Although only 13 episodes were made, it remains fondly remembered, and was frequently repeated in the UK for 13 years. In 1999 Bagpuss topped a BBC poll for the UK's favourite children's TV programme. ABOUT SMALL FILMS Smallfilms was a British company that made animated television programmes for children, from 1959 to the 1980s. It was a partnership between Oliver Postgate (writer, animator and narrator) and Peter Firmin (model maker and illustrator). As well as Bagpuss the company made a number of hugely popular series of short films were made using stop-motion animation, including The Clangers, recently recommissioned by the BBC, , Noggin the Nog, and Ivor the Engine.
